Prepare the model in GLB (binary glTF 2.0). It is the main file: the 3D view on all devices and WebAR both work from it.
Check your file against this list or hand the page to your 3D specialist. The preparation determines which features will be available in the configurator.
Prepare the model in GLB (binary glTF 2.0). It is the main file: the 3D view on all devices and WebAR both work from it.
Remove unnecessary geometry and optimise the textures. We recommend a file of up to 15 MB, up to 500,000 triangles and textures of up to 2048 px; over 50 MB, 2,000,000 triangles or 4096 px the model needs adaptation. The free model check reads files of up to 300 MB - that is its limit, not a recommendation. Open a compressed file (Draco or Meshopt) in the same check: it shows whether the file opens in 3D on the website and in WebAR on Android and iPhone. Test loading over a mobile network.
Use metres: one model unit equals one metre. Check the overall dimensions, the vertical orientation and the pivot point. Compare the final file with the dimensions of the real product.
Use compatible PBR materials and include the necessary textures in the file. Check the colour, roughness, metallic surfaces and normals. Give clear names to the materials that will be switched or recoloured. Make glass with transparency, without refraction (Transmission): with refraction the browser draws the scene twice, and the model lags on phones.
Split the elements that will be switched or taken apart into independent objects. Combine related parts into parent groups. Name them by purpose: for example, "Roof", "Door", "Shelves". Check the prepared options before uploading to Studio. Join the remaining parts that share a material into one object: the browser draws each part separately, so aim for up to 50 parts.
On Android, WebAR opens via Scene Viewer or WebXR; on iPhone and iPad the configurator builds the Quick Look file from the GLB itself. Add a separate USDZ only if you need iOS Quick Look with exact reproduction of complex materials. For the model to appear at real size in WebAR, keep the scale in metres.
The 3D model is uploaded to OKADAR Studio to set up the configurator, and you host the ready-made files on your own website or in storage of your choice - the model does not need to be stored on the OKADAR server. During the model check the file never leaves your computer. For a phone test, a copy is kept for 24 hours and then deleted automatically.
Prepare the model in your own 3D editor, hand the requirements to a specialist, or order creation or adaptation from OKADAR. We first check the source materials and agree the scope of work.
Check your modelFor questions about a model, working in Studio, publishing or WebAR, write to us. Describe the task and include a link to the project.
Write to us by e-mail - you can attach a description, links and images.
Studio is where you set up the configurator. A project has five steps: only the model is required, the others can be done in any order.
Upload the product’s 3D model in GLB format - all the following steps are set up on it.
Decide what the buyer can choose: parts, versions, materials and colours.
Set the prices of the configurations and the buyer’s next step: cart or a request to the seller.
Check how the buyer will see the product: design, scene, dimensions, WebAR and language.
Publish the configurator: add the code to a page of your website or download the finished project.
You can set up and test a project without paying. Publishing and changing a published configurator require Studio access.
